Reactive arthritis

1 - DEFINITION

Reactive arthritis (ReA) (formerly known as Reiter’s syndrome) is a form of aseptic arthritis that develops in the month following a gastrointestinal or urethral bacterial infection [1]. It belongs to the family of spondyloarthropathies together with ankylosing spondylitis (AS), arthritis associated with inflammatory bowel diseases, psoriatic arthritis, certain types of juvenile arthritis, and undifferentiated spondyloarthropathy [2].
